Walking with my camera,
my first winter in Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod,
the day after a beautiful blizzard came to town,
capturing my new home all dressed up in snow white.

A year ago, people were swimming in the ocean,
and walking around in shorts and bathing suits.
There was water under the pier too!
This year, there are winter coats and hats and gloves.
And hardly any water under the pier, thanks to the beach renourishment.
What are your expectations for tomorrow?
Colder, warmer, rain, snow?
That all depends on where you are.
Metaphorically speaking,
"How's your weather?"

Walking the beach the other day with my little point and shoot digital elph,
that no longer zooms in,
there is a pod of dolphins feeding right in front of me.
I point,
hoping to catch a glistening fin and what do I see?
A dolphin is airborne!
I shoot!
And I think I am airborne, I am so excited!
Here it is, a little closer…
And a little closer still…
zoom zoom zoom…
Probably a Bottle Nose Dolphin, and maybe some fish jumping at St. Augustine Beach.

Busy ocean today, after the rain storm.
The wind blowing one way and the tide the other.
Like thinking one thing and feeling another.
The tide always wins out.

When we have long departed from this beautiful blue/green planet,
will we one day long for a glimpse of a new leaf in springtime,
missing the seasons and colors of Earth?
Perhaps that depends on the treasures that we find on the other side.
For now, a new green leaf in springtime is treasure enough.
Spring begins in St. Augustine as the trees are leafing out.

Have you done something impossible recently?
You must have, because this was in the sky,
just the other night.
The sky does not lie.

If this chunk of sand and rock and cement were frozen in time
would future archeologists, 10,000 years from now,
be captivated by it?
There is evidence of a critter with paws shaped like a human hand,
a possible humanoid footprint, with some kind of covering on the foot,
and the wear and tear of the tide coming and going –
all signs of vibrant life at the water's edge.
Isn't that person standing in front of you just as intriguing?
Sometimes!
