    Firewks13 86

Made it just in time to the island end of the Bridge of Lions for the fireworks.

Set up the tripod as they began and my favorite one,

the one that looked like a water fall, didn't photograph well,

    (we've all been there!)

The bridge, which is closed to traffic for the occasion, was mobbed with happy families

    and others, like myself!

    So many people!

    Frewksbrdge

Too much traffic for my old car on the way home,

so a detour to the Conch House for a beer,

and what is it about a marina that soothes the heart and soul?

Maybe I don't want to know the answer to that

and just enjoy the denouement of the night.

(And where do the pelicans sleep, anyway?)

And by the way, thinking about the 4th of July, 1776,

I must say that I have a lot of faith in the goodness of the people of America,

and trust that we will get this country back on track, in due time.

    Soon.

    There, I said it.

    If i were tree

    If I were a tree,

I wouldn't mind hanging out with these guys

for a couple of hundred years.

    (Can you imagine?)

Magnolia Avenue, St. Augustine, Florida, probably the most photographed street in town.

    Chair fishn' blog

A beach chair is just a beach chair,

even though there's no one sitting there,

    or fishin' there,

    or wishin' there.

Drawn to the water's edge as the tide ebbs,

the folks who look like they might belong to this set,

a man and his young daughter,

are engrossed in the joy that a little fishing net can bring,

chasing the small critters that scurry in the shallow waters.

St. Augustine Beach, during a break in the rain.

    Swallow tail kite blog

The Swallow Tail Kite, gliding gracefully through the sky,

'round and 'round and 'round in huge spirals,

writing the moments of her day on the canvas of the clouds.

    "Come closer…

    you are so beautiful."

    Thursday ducks blog

Do you ever associate a day of the week with a month, or a number?

Like, Thursday would be September and the number 8,

(and a photo of 2 ducks walking together).

There might be a numerological explanation for this that might shed some light on the condition of my psyche,

and perhaps conclude that I am only half crazy,

or it is just one of those funny associations.

    What would Friday be?

    May and the number 7.

    Don't ask me why!

    Ray blog

There are songs that we've sang forever

and perhaps never noticed the poetry of the lyrics,

    like this line:

    ..a drop of golden sun.

    From which song?

    ?

    How manymons? blog

Often when I see the moon high in the sky,

I am reminded of a balmy night in Baltimore City,

    when I was 19 or 20,

and feeling very pleased with myself,

sitting on the stoop of my very first apartment building.

The moon was shining above the tall buildings and trees surrounding me,

keeping me company like an old friend.

    How many moons since then,

    and still my good friend?

Photo of last year's Super Moon climbing throught the sea oats at St. Augustine Beach, Florida.
